Student exchange in Reims, part 1&2

Student exchange in Reims, part 2
Sports
For a change lets start with something else then parties. At RMS you have quite some options to do sports. Except for the broken down gym the RMS has, there is also an option of "paying" 40 EUR and you can do certain sports (rugby, taekwondo, pilates, zumba, soccer, basketball... ) for a whole year. In my first semester I did Rugby with the RMS. It was actually really interesting to learn a new sport and to practice it, the team is quite nice and helped most of the time, since my French is "merde"! It's funny when you have 50 French speaking guys and a English speaking guy, even if everyone knows you don't speak French they would still speak French...cos by all logic I have to understand French...Obviously!!But it's only a sport, even if I didn't have a clue what they were saying, you just do what others do...perfect for dummies like me :)
At the end I actually stopped training since It was a bit too easy, sometimes I didn't even break a sweat, and I didn't wanted be one of those people you see at school with crutches :P

With the exchange student we also had multiple soccer games and basketball matches, the drunken basketball matches (invented by Cameron) were the most fun!Getting a bit bruised was a normal thing, especially when you drink and play sports...but it makes it much more fun :P

Dream team...drunken basketball!

Playing Soccer

We also went to two matches of the Reims soccer team, they play in the first French league. But we've seen that we could probably play better then them...and we stopped going! Goooo State de Reims.

Nitin, Anna and Me also attended the semi marathon (21.1 km), I ran it in 1:51 min... :S

Trips
We really traveled a lot during the first semester!

Epernay
Eperney is a small town near Reims, which is famous for its Champagne cellars and beautiful sightseeing places nearby. I took a trip with Nina from Canada and we really had a nice time and cycled for at least 6,7h around the wines and the neighboring towns. It a really nice 1 day trip to get to know this area with is famous for its Champagne. The best moment was when we had to rush back to the bike rental places (we rode on a freeway since we didn't know where we were and our only shot of getting back was fallowing the traffic signs) and the end part when we bought a baguette, cheese and a Champagne to toast the successful day :)

Bordeaux
What a trip this was!!!!OMG...the best trip in the first semester! What made it so special?Well the combination of awesome people (Senada, Deborah, Toby and Acton), Drum, a slap, ass pain medicine, domino's pizza, dune de pyla, pub "crawl"..Some of these sounds wrong but let me explain.
We decided to go down with a car aka blackberry and on the way we stopped at a famous castle and at Cognac to try some real Cognac. When we got there Debs told us about the famous buy 1 get 3 deal at the Domino's pizza place in Bordeaux...Ohh that was sooo sweet, bought 2 pizzas and got 6!!Awesome!!
Domino's pizzas

Thanks to Deborah, who did her exchange in Bordeaux at the beginning of 2012, we decided to go with her and have our own awesome tourist guide. Since she knew all the Bordeaux we have seen it from a "locals" perspective which was a bit different but really nice.
The first day was also really memorable for the nice apartment we rented which had a drum in one of the rooms...it seemed like a good thing till I got a slap!!Let me go back a bit...Toby's was driving the whole way down, his soccer team lost, Acton and I found the drum, I played the drum, Toby walking up the stairs and I got a SLAPPPP!!Felt really bed back then, but not it's just funny!!

 Playing the drum

Debs also took us to some small little sea town which was newly refurbished and looked like Disney city.We also went to Dune de pyla which is a huge pile of sand near the sea. We were actually jumping of on edge of the sand dune for hours (which reminds me...ACTON SHARE THE PICTURES!)...it was incredible!

Jumping from Dune de Pyla, sand dune

We also did the pab crawl where Debs took us to a couple of most famous pubs with a task to "borrow" the biggest things you could find. To make the long story short...Senada the crazy two bike ridding girl won and Toby and I lost :(

At the beach near Bordeaux

Thank you all for this amazing trip...I will never forget it!

North of France
This was the last trip in the first semester. Raffael, Pilar, Brittany and I went to Rennes, St. Melo, Normandy (Omaha beach, D Day), Caen, La Havre and Rouen. It was a five day trip. Already the first day we through a party in our hotel room in Rennes and kinda destroyed some furniture...nothing that we didn't "repair" before we left. We also went out that day and accidentally came across a gay club. Ohh shit that was interesting, especially for the first 30min when we didn't know!!Sooo funny!

Next we did a day trip to St. Melo. A small little city next to the sea, where the hole city surrounded by walls. And everything looks really old but well maintained.

WTF... In St. Melo

From there on we went to spend a night in Caen and left for the D Day beach, Normandy the next morning. The beach is actually called the Omaha beach <3 (another sign), where Raffa decided to go for a swim in the freezing cold water...brave!!So much fun to watch him!
From there we went La Havre, a really nice by the sea city with amazing architectural bridges and buildings. This is where we did the milking video...SO MUCH FUN!!

On the last day we also went to a Chinese restaurant where there was this really nice Chinese men serving us. We talked for many minutes, he also gave us additional spring roles,... and the best part was that at the end he wanted to take our picture to put it on the wall of his restaurant. So if you ever go to La Havre check the Chinese restaurant CHIENGMAI in the center of the city!
We ended the trip in Rouen and then headed back to Reims.
There was also some drama, but all in all it was a really good trip!Tnx everyone :)

Lille
This was a weekend trip organized by the BDI (RMS group). Except for the bad beginning I can actually complain about the organization. Well the main part was the drinking and partying as always!I was in a nice group of really good friends (Raffa, Val, Morgane, Ale, Mickey,...). Well since Lille isn't that big of a city, It didn't take time till we saw most of the interesting stuff and then went to do some crazy stuff...Well we started partying in the hostel with everyone and ended up in a great club downtown with some hot Mexican girls and just partied the night!!Great night ;)
The next day me and Raffa went around the town a bit and "visited" the outside zoo and just walked around...good times...and before we knew it we were going back home.

Munich
Finally some Malta in my life!!!Finally reunited with my "lost sister" :). Hillary and her mom and friend decided to go for a small vacation to Munich and I decided I would go and meet her. After not seeing Anja for 3months she also decided to come and we had a small little reunion. Since I was in Reims till then,  going south to Munich i taught It would be warmer and nicer weather!!Ooohhh shit was that a mistake, for most of the time It was around -5 degrees and I only came with my jacket and t-shirts like always...this is where I "heard" my mom saying :"dumbass, next time check the weather report!"
Well the most impressive thing in Munich is their pastry...OMG...I had so many for two days I just had that for breakfast, lunch and dinner...SO AMAZING!!<3
Catching up on things from Hills and Anja was so amazing and I'm really happy I have both of you in my life!!Thank you

Hills I hope your enjoying the Carnival in Malta as we speak and Anja I will see you soon <3

Best friends
If I wanted to show all my best friends here I would definitely need at least 2 more posts on the blog! But If I would have to name those who had the biggest effect on, they would have to be:

Raffael

Holy shit... A million words wouldn't be enough!!We actually meet after around 3 weeks of the exchange and I initial impression wasn't that good, but after one night he became my really good friend. Well the best thing about him was his funny, crazy, outgoing personality. Always ready for action and was always there :). I felt the most relaxed when we hanged out cos i knew we were kind of similar and he is someone who I could trust with any secret and I know he wouldn't judge (judgginggg). We did have some drama going on the last two weeks, but looking back now I have to say that that was totally stupid!Man tnx for everything and all the awesome memories.

P.S.: Next year we better do Skype Dexter watching

Going to the club in PJs

Acton

What a funny guy!!!As any Canadian he loved ice hockey and all the ice sport...i don't know why but when I hear ice hockey I always think of you!!Weird!!
A really crazy, funny, friendly and trust worthy person. I actually met him while choosing a bottle of to drink!Only in France :)
The best memory with I had was when we were using the Beebe guns and shooting at random things and lets not forget the Old Nick drinking. He always knew how to make me laugh even when I didn't feel like it!!Thank you man!!See you in America :)

Acton

The three of us

Dominique and Pilar

These two are like day and night but definitely the most memorable girls I met. Not only are they good friends I also learned so much from them.
Dominique taught me so much about some important stuff in live and how to go around certain things. On the out side she is a beast (beautiful one) but once you get to know her more she is just a normal girl with a really BIG hart! But let's not forget the party side...ohhh shit she knew how to party! Unfortunately we didn't party much, which I hope we will make up when I come to Holland :)
Thank you for some really great times and some unforgettable as well. Honey I really wish you all the best because you really deserve it! :)
Pilar or Maria del Pilar Rodriguez Roman or Mama Pilar is probably the kindness person I met (when she isn't mad...cos then her Latin side comes out!). She is truly the nicest person!Well we kinda met in drama story of our own and ever since became really good friends. I'm really thankful I got to spend almost the hole January with her doing all kinds off stuff and having a blast (snowman, skitels vodka, Bag sliding, Shisha time, dinners, easy love love shop :),....). She is also a person who I could easily trust with everything and I knew she was would not tell anyone...One of the rear people I can trust!Thank you for being there on all the bad the good and the best memories here :)

Dominique and Pilar

Valerie and Morgane

The party animals from Belgium. These two were one of the first people I met here and I'm soo  happy to have known you from the beginning, because it gave me much more time to hang out with both of you. I will never forget the crazy chicken, cows, snakes and all the other crazy animals we acted. Not to forget all the nice parties at Florians and the amazing times at the club. Clubs are not the same without both of you!!Not only are they party animals they are also really nice, kind and friendly persons!Let's not forget gossip as well, but they wouldn't be the same without that and it makes them even more special! I miss you a lot!!!Thank you...see you soon in Belgium :)

Valerie, Morgan and Me

I also can not not mention: Wei Jing, Deborah, Senada, Yi Juin, Luisa, Nina, Cameron, Nitin, Arpit,...soooo many more!

Goodbye :(
I have to say that these were my best 3 and a half months of my life! So much fun, crazy stuff, parties, drama, ... and amazing people! You all are the reason why I love to travel, meeting so many amazing individuals from all over the world really makes me want to discover the world and its' amazing people! It's my honor knowing all of you! Thank you University of Ljubljana and RMS for this opportunity!! <3

Last night at the club with everyone :(

Photo: I made a lot of friends and a lot of you I will probably never see again. But the memories remain. Thank you! :)
Tnx for signing my T-Shirt

-The end-
P.S.: This better not be the end!!<3

Student exchange in Reims, part 1&1

Exchange in Reims (1st semester)!

I always knew I had to do an exchange abroad to see if I really want to work and live abroad.  Well and let's not forget all the crazy parties, new people and crazy stuff...but this is not the that important :P.
My first three choices were all with Spanish schools, but since I don't know how to speak Spanish (yet) I couldn't go there, that's why I chose next best...North of France, Reims. My faculty was really nice with all stuff i had to do to get here and they have also been really kind...till today!...but that is a story for some other day!:P
On the 18th of September I arrived in Reims after a 13h journey with my 2 bags which both weigh around 20kg and it was extremely annoying carrying them across Reims, because I taught 4km is nothing and using a tram was stupid..."I wanted to see the city"...big mistake...after 90min of walking and getting lost I finally arrived at the residence which is luckily next to the university and to the RMS campus 1!!
The first night was definitely the worst one here:
1. Having 40kg of luggage and I forgot to bring sheets, blanket and winter clothes!Sooo I froze my ass off, and heating didn't work and my 2 shorts, jeans, triple socks, 2 T-shirts, pullover and one jacket still didn't help!!terrible!!!
2. I didn't have internet!!Do I need to say more?

Next day It actually started my 1st semester at RMS..."working hard, studying,...",HAHA

Photo: Welcome to our International students !
Feel free to tag yourself & friends on the picture !
These are the awesome people who were on exchange at RMS in the 1st semester

Welcome days

On the first day I met really nice Austrians (Clemens,...) and the crazy, nice, fun and FUNNY Belgium girls (Valerie and Morgane)! We had 2 day welcome days and on the first day (19th) we had a presentationof the school, lunch and then to Pommery, Champange cellar in Reims. In the afternoon we had a dinner with all the exchange students. I sat with the Belgium girls, Taiwanese, Chinese students and some others as well. Really awesome night, not the best food, but we finished it at the famous student bar, Hemingway's!!

Floriane - Buddy

At RMS they have a program called "BDI buddy" where there exchange students can ask to have a French buddy to interact and learn their culture. My buddy is Floriane from Dijon (mustard city :P) and she is my buddy for the hole year. She is really nice, cute and also helped me when I needed it most. Well when i came to France I had some problems with one of my tooth and with her help she found a good dentist which eventually helped me with my problem.
At the beginning of the semester she threw a lot of parties for her friends and us exchange students in her flat. Floriane also introduced us to some of her friends and we got a really good look at the French culture, tradition and people. Tnx Floriane for all the good parties and great times in the first semester....second one will be even better ;)

Paris and Brussels trip

Paris trip was my first trip with the exchange students of RMS. We decided to go somewhere close and special and what is more special then Paris. I was already in Paris so I kinda knew the main tourist places and it was quite nice to go and see it all again and with great exchange friends i met.  It was a two day trip and we spent a night in a hotel in Paris which we found with the help of a friend we knew who worked at the hotel. Well that really was a special experience...because of two reasons:
1. Because of a 2h talk about shit and diarrhea between my two best friends, which at that time i didn't know that much.
2.  The bad room we were at...moving toilet, one bed missing, ....

We also went out and spent a great time in the party area in Paris...don't ask me which one!

The thing I will never forget followed the next day in the morning. Thanks to Anna we went to get her forgotten bottle of Old Nick at the restaurant, which she forgot the previous day, and drank it at 9am in front of the store...Don't ask my why this is so special, It really is something I will never forget!!Tnx Acton and Raffael for repeating it at the end of the exchange at my last exam!!I'll never forget it!

Brussels

Well it wasn't been long after that, that we decided to go on another trip, this time it was to Brussels. I have already been to Brussels before as well but this was the first trip I organized. We decided to go by car (which was a long process and we missed a hole day in Luxembourg because of my sloppiness :(). Well luckily we were able to rent a car and we were on our way to Brussels and arrived safely. Brussels is a nice city full of waffles, beer, nice people and beautiful buildings. We had a great time and saw a lot of sights. Unfortunately we didn't have time to go to Liege to visit our friend Morgane :(. It was a good trip anyways!

Parties #1

OMG...where do I start? When it comes to parties I could be going on for hours!! Well when you say the word exchange or Erasmus to an European, they would usually associate that with PARTIES, traveling and crazy stuff. And that is exactly what is it, parties almost every day!School and professional life kinda come on the second and third place. An exchange is a great time to actually try to reinvent yourself and discover new things!
Reims isn't a big place, so places where you party are limited but there are always new ways to party and new people you meet.More in part 2
